ABOUT JENNIFER ESTATES
Jennifer Estates is a neighborhood of 115 homes located in unincorporated Seminole County, nestled between Altamonte Springs and Apopka, Florida. Homeowners enjoy deeded private access to Lake Brantley (a 288 acre spring-fed lake) as well as our beach, boat ramp, picnic pavilion with grill, tennis court, basketball court, and our newly installed pickle ball court in 2021. We are surrounded by mature trees and lush greenery.
Maintenance and regulation of Jennifer Estates is governed by Covenants and Bylaws that are overseen by the Board of Directors. There is an annual meeting for members each year in early November. Regular Board Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month and all Jennifer Estates homeowners are welcome to attend. For easy access, the Zoom site for monthly meetings is located in the Resident’s Only Section.
Our children attend Wekiva Elementary School, Teague Middle School, and Lake Brantley High School.
We are located minutes away from extensive shopping opportunities in both Longwood and Altamonte Springs, about twenty minutes away from downtown Orlando, and about forty-five minutes away from all of the popular tourist attractions. Despite all of that, we are only about ten minutes from Wekiva State Park and the Wekiva River. With Lake Brantley on one side and adjacent protected conservation / wetlands on the other side, we are sometimes treated to visits by an interesting array of wildlife including rabbits, racoons, possums, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, turkeys, hawks, eagles, kites, and bears to mention a few!
HISTORY OF THE AREA
The area was first inhabited by Seminole Indians who lived along the Wekiva river banks, as well as many lakes in the area.
The word Apopka came from the Timucuan Indian language, and means big potato. The area was first settled by non-natives in 1842. Wekiva Springs was formally known as Clay Springs, where the Clay family had a trading post and 3 story Hotel and where barges taking citrus and other trade were plied downstream to a major sea port of the time located in Sanford, Florida. The produce was taken from there to New York City and along the East Coast.
In the 1850’s the settlement began to grow because of the agricultural opportunities available in the area. The area continued to grow rapidly in the 1860’s and 1870’s and was incorporated as a town in 1882. Apopka is currently one of the fastest growing areas in central Florida due to new construction on the 429, a major highway in the area.
Residents can enjoy boating, sailing, water skiing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, tennis, pickle ball, playgrounds, biking trails, and many other natural activities that are unique to this area. It is a perfect place to enjoy with your family or to simply appreciate nature’s bountiful gifts.
